Welcome to the 2009 Maritime Fall Fair!

There may be some misunderstanding about the content of the 2009 Maritime Fall Fair and, in particular, the agricultural features of the event. We are working closely with all parties involved to ensure that visitors to the event have an entertaining and educational agricultural experience.

We are still in the planning stages of this year’s event, but we do know there are major agricultural aspects confirmed for the 2009 Maritime Fall Fair, including:

·          Displays and demonstrations of dairy cattle, representation of different beef breeds, as well as a sheep demonstration and display

·          The Extreme Rodeo Championship Series

·          The Ag Cot Discovery Centre, featuring educational, interactive agricultural displays

·          Traditional Heavy Horse competition – one the largest competitions of its kind in Atlantic Canada

·          The very popular Ox Pull is returning

·          The MBRA (Maritime Barrel Racing Association) will be back to perform their exciting poles and barrels competitions.

·          There will be light horse show jumping events. The finale of the Green Diamond Jumper Series, which features local riders, will take place at the Maritime Fall Fair. (Kubota Canada has withdrawn their sponsorship of their national horse jumping series; therefore, the Kubota Cup no longer exists.)

·          There will be an entertaining dog show

·          Displays featuring various animals, such as rabbits, poultry, exotic animals and llamas

·          There will be a larger petting zoo (it will be 50% bigger than last year) featuring various farm animals from Hatfield Farm

·          The Craft Marketplace will be a place where crafters can sell their products

·          We will be placing strong emphasis on the Select Nova Scotia campaign “Buy local. Eat fresh.” – featuring a local farmer’s market, where attendees will be able to buy and enjoy local produce.

We encourage you to return in the coming weeks and months, as details of this year’s fair are finalized.

Trade Centre Limited is committed to providing Nova Scotians with a great Maritime Fall Fair experience -- one that entertains, educates and gives people an opportunity to understand more about agriculture in
Nova Scotia.
